Cilantro Chelation with cilantro pesto
If you would like to detox at home try cilantro chelation. Cilantro chelation is a natural chelation therapy that can be used as a simple detox of heavy metals from the body.
There are foods that we can eat that act like chemical chelating agents. One such food is cilantro, also known as, coriander leaves. This herb, is natures answer to aluminum detox. Cilantro chelates lead and mercury as well. In fact, cilantro chelation can be called cilantro detox as it helps the removal of these heavy metals from the body. Cilantro contains antioxidants, is antibacterial and anti inflammatory.
Here is a recipe for cilantro pesto.
- 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 1 cup spring onion
- 1 clove fresh garlic
- 1 tablespoon cannellini beans in place of pine nuts or other nuts, to make this nut free
- 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese, or dairy free parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
You can place all the ingredients in the food processor and whiz it up in one go or just the first five, up to the oil and process until finely chopped. Then with the motor running, pour the olive oil in a steady stream into the pesto till all the ingredients are well combined. Add lemon juice and salt to taste. Place in jars and pour a layer of oil on top and seal. Makes about 1 cup. Keep refrigerated.
This pesto will be great with pasta, or in sandwiches, as a marinade for chicken breasts or a sauce on the side of grilled fish and meats. A delicious condiment which chelates heavy metals from the body while adding flavor and interest to your meals. Include it in your diet as a simple pesto sauce by replacing the basil or if you aren’t too crazy about cilantro, combine it with basil when you make pesto. On that note, garlic is great for removing metals too. So the pesto with coriander and garlic gives you 2 chelating ingredients already. Eat a couple of teaspoons everyday, for two to three weeks for effective cilantro chelation. You can do this simple home detox every few months or more often, if you enjoy it.
